Nicky Epstein Knitting in Tuscany"If I were to attempt to write about all the art, architecture, sightseeing, hotels, restaurants, shopping, people and myriad other joys of visiting Florence, it would fill entire books more ambitious than Knitting In Tuscany.

I will share with you just a few of my personal favorites."

I've been to the three shops in Florence mentioned and they are incredible. The yarn is wonderful and the prices unbelievable. I found that even when the staff didn't speak English I had no problem communicating with them and their warmth and friendliness was so inviting.

Mirko Filati di Campi Antonella e Barbara is a wonderful little shop and I actually had to make two trips to it. The man who owns it speaks only Italian and wasn't too sure of me at first. But after he saw what I purchased he warmed up! lol. The next day when I returned, he was so friendly! As I went to leave with my 2nd huge array of alpaca and merino wool, he stopped me. He thumbed through a stack of kniiting magazines and handed one to me. Of course its in Italian, but there are charts so I'll figure it out. What a wonderful gesture.

I do miss Beatrice. But yes, Florence is a wonderful place for yarn treasures.

And I did have to buy another suitcase after also finding yarn in Rome and Venice! I'm glad my husband is so understanding!!
