If you need a break from the theme parks, or if you’re taking a cruise out of Port Canaveral, with the recent closing of the beachside All Strung Out, there isnow only one shop to visit on the Space Coast.  Good thing it's a great shop with a nice selection!

  KNIT & STITCH

A lot of people call Cocoa BeachCocoa” for short.  None of the people who do live in either Cocoa or Cocoa Beach, since they know that they are two different cities separated by Merritt Island, the Banana River and the Indian River Lagoon.  And Cocoa has no beach.  And Cocoa Beach does…hence the name Cocoa Beach.  But Cocoa does have a quaint old downtown area known as “Cocoa Village,” full of little shops and great restaurants.  It’s especially worth visiting for Knit & Stitch, a little shop literally bursting at the seams with floor-to-ceiling yarn.  A part of the shop is devoted to embroidery and needlepoint, but there’s more yarn than you can shake a knitting needle at.
Everywhere you look, there’s more yarn.  It’s just like in my dreams.  Filatura di Crosa, Brown Sheep, Plymouth, SWTC, Berocco, Lorna’s Laces, Colinette, Lained du Nord, Mission Falls, Prism, Wendy, Debbie Bliss, Noro, JCA Utopia, Dream in Color, baby kits from Sweaterkits and Cabin Fever, Karabella,  Rainbow Mills. Schroeder Yarns, Conjoined Creations, Malabrigo, and Swedish Yarn Company. Whew!  Since I made afghans for my entire family for Christmas a couple of years ago (a dozen of them!) I’ve been eyeing the Colinette Ab Fab kit for myself.  Knit & Stitch carries more than a dozen colorways and I finally gave up the battle and bought myself the Sedona kit.  It’ll look beautiful on the sofa in my home office.  This job is definitely hazardous to my yarn diet!

I hope you enjoyed your visit to my little corner of the world.  If you’re around on the first Tuesday of the month and want to knit with my little group, give me a call.  We meet at Stardust Coffee and Video around 6:00.  Fair warning, though – this little hole in the wall coffee place has a beer and wine license and awesome food, so there’s sometimes more eating and drinking than knitting going on.  As they say, you can take the girl off the beach….
