If you're either old enough to remember the 1960's or you've seen any of the Austin Powers movies, then you know about the "British Invasion" when Americans were enamored with all things UK. From the Beatles and Rolling Stones to Herman's Hermits, British music groups dominated the airwaves. As for fashion, Carnaby Street and London street fashion was what the hip American girl wanted to wear. Knitting has its own version of the British Invasion, with UK knitwear designers topping the bookselling charts on both sides of the pond as well. All we can say is God save the Queen, and pass the fish and chips!

Knit and crochet for a good cause!

This month, we are featuring the charity organization Packages from Home which offer many opportunities to get involved in supporting military troops abroad. One of their donation goals is to collect hand-knitted helmet liners for service men and women. They provide a simple pattern and instructions for selecting appropriate wool colors to match uniforms. Visit PackagesFromHome.org for more information on donating your time to this charity.

Learn how you can knit or crochet squares with Planet Purl's Warm Hearts Squared campaign. Our goal is to collect 1000 squares that will be joined to make blankets for those in need.
