One of my favorite vintage designers is Elsa Schiaparelli, an Italian whose atelier in Paris was Coco Chanel’s greatest competition.Her graphic knitwear designs launched her career.Schiaparelli’s designs were heavily influenced by the Surrealist movement and she collaborated with such luminaries as Dali, Oppenheim, Giacometti, Fini and Cocteau.This cushion is inspired by an embroidered 1937 evening coat designed in collaboration with Jean Cocteau that featured his face/vase optical illusion.
